Story No.38(中級No.8)
White Or Black
  • I was watching TV and there was a special program about Valentine's Day.
  • What's Valentine's Day?
  • Well, according to the program, in Japan it's a day when women declare their love.
  • Wow! I didn't know that.
  • Then a month after that there's a day called ‘‘White Day’’ when the guy replies. It did not mention why it is called White Day.
  • Japanese ladies have to wait such a long time for a reply?
  • That's right. Oh! And a month after White Day, there is a day called ‘‘Black Day.’’
  • What's Black Day?
  • That's a Korean event. If things work out on Valentine's Day, women get a reply on White Day, right? But some couples don't end up together...
  • Is Black Day for men and women who failed to get together on White Day?
  • Bingo!
  • No wonder it's called Black Day! But, what happens to people who don't find a partner on Black Day?
  • Ummm... I have no idea.
